I own a 42 inch Philips plasma television and I’ve noticed that it runs extremely hot. Is this tv built to withstand the heat and is it safe to continue to use the television when its really hot?

I just bought a new 50” plasma tv last week and was a little disappointed that it didn’t have a pc slot on the back since i want to be wirless with keyboard and mouse as well as xbox. Someone told me to use the s-video out on the back of my Dell Dimension 8200 and connect straight to the S-video in on the back of the plasma. Is this true? What other functions will i need to do? Change settings on pc or etc.?

I am planning on buying a flat panel plasma TV, and I was also hoping to use it as my computer monitor. I am thinking of purchasing the Samsung LA50Q7HDX, which has a native resolution of 1024×768 and HDMI inputs. Having said that, I am looking to purchase a video card that has HDMI output (expensive). I am mainly concerned about display quality as I use the computer for both work and gaming.

Do I have to adjust the display to widescreen on the computer? Feel free to let me know what you guys think.

This is what I have:

MX6450 Notebook
Video Integrated RadeonĀ® X300 based graphics
1 – VGA External Connector
Headphone / Audio Out

Panasonic TH-42PD50U 42″ Flat-Panel EDTV Plasma TV
2 composite, 2 S-Video, 2 component, 1 HDMI inputs

StarTech VGA/HD with Audio to HDMI Format Converter

Plus all the cables to connect them together. However when I connect them, there are no pictures or sound. I’ve tried using the Fn key, but my options are “Monitor” or “Laptop”. So I select the monitor which gives me nothing.

So I can even connect them together or did I waste my time/money?

PC Richard and Sons (and J&R’s salesmen) say the TV’s resolution is 1080i, while Panasonic, Circuit City, and some other stores say 720p. Which one is it?

The TV is TH42PX75U, a 42 inch plasma.

I shopped around looking for a tv stand for my 50 inch plasma tv and found that majority of them cost $200 on up. Today I seen a basic looking stand at Best Buy and was shocked to learn that the price was $799. That’s crazy! It seems like the people who make the tv stands know we want the stands and they’re just putting any price on them even though the items are not even worth that much.

We have a 52″ plasma TV and are thinking about mounting it over our fireplace. We are concerned that the woodburning fireplace may cause too much heat and cause damage to the TV. Has anyone else done this? Have you had any problems? What else do we need to consider in making this decision? Thanks!
