I’ve heard that plasma TV screens begin to fade after as little as 5,000 hours of viewing (seems like a lot, but that is less than 3 years at 5 hours/day), but some claim to last up to 60,000 hours. I also hear about “burn-in”, heat production when the TV is on, and high power consumption. What’s the truth?

I recently bought a Sony 42″ LCD TV, and I was hoping to put it above my fireplace, but is this safe? Also, is it safe to place the TV in an area that is warm, like near the kitchen? Also, does this rule apply to Plasma TV’s too? Thanks!

I just bought a 42″ Magnavox plasma tv. It looked awesome when I bought it and a few days later it got a distortion to the screen. Kind of like an interference. But it’s there no matter what input it’s on. Even on the tuner. Any answers?

I’ve just bought a 42″ LG plasma TV, it’s great but it makes a really loud buzzing noise when it’s on, it’s driving me insane, I’m not gonna be able to handle it for any length of time.

I know that they make some level of noise but this is ridiculous!

It’s not on the wall or close to a hard surface, it’s sitting on a glass stand in the corner of the room but it’s still too loud.

Is there any way I can dampen the noise or buy some sort of equipment to reduce it?

I have tried several brand names & all have the same result. During playback suddenly the laser seems to get stuck & it makes a funny noise, then the DVD player will no longer read ANY disc & is essentially garbage. I have it on a new surge protector & have tried placing it it elsewhere but I am limited by the length of the cable. Also, I have a DVD player attached to 2 other televisions (both LCD) in the house, both have worked great for years. Could the plasma TV somehow have something to do with this, or should I call out the paranormal activity experts? Please help!
