Why does my plasma tv display fizz out and disappear after 5 minutes of watching?

I have a plasma tv and it works for 5 minutes, then mysteriously, the picture begins to fizzle out, leaving the picture black eventually.

a lot of plasma screens have a built in cooling system of fans, make sure those are working and dust free
